The headline on their webpage says, "Virginia College is no longer accepting new student enrollments."

Their Facebook page is unavailable, and an announcement has gone out to students.  Reports from across the web are showing that this is a nationwide shutdown. The school will be closing on Friday (December 7th).

The school apparently was limping by financially, and Tuesday night the school's accreditation was suspended.

KCBD has more on the school's closing, including plans for a skeleton staff to be available to help with students transcripts as they try to land elsewhere.

It's a dang shame that this educational option is going away. Any education or attempt to better yourself is a very good thing. I certainly hope that students won't let this discourage them from seeking any form of higher education.

To a lesser degree, it also stinks that another big piece of real estate in Lubbock will now go vacant.
