New Cincinnati Bearcats head football coach Tommy Tuberville is now doing the media rounds after his hiring at Cincinnati last week. Yesterday, Tuberville appeared on the Tim Brando Show on Yahoo! Sports Radio.

Tuberville went through the 'process' of his discussion with Cincinnati AD Whit Babcock that led to his hiring. Brando compared Tuberville's discussion with Babcock to Vice President Dick Cheney's campaigning of himself for the VP slot with George W. Bush for the 2000 election. Tuberville said about leaving Tech, "It was really hard to pull the trigger. But sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling."

Concerning the 'divided' fanbase at Tech in the aftermath of the Mike Leach firing, Tuberville said, "We won over a lot of the fans while we were there. It was much improved when we left."

Tuberville also talked about the coaching profession in general, "We hired guns. It's just a football coach. Sooner or later you're going to leave."
