Tiger Woods struggled in his return to golf on Thursday as he shoot a 73 in the first round of the Phoenix Open.  The first few holes really gave him problems as he bogeyed one and two and then followed those up a double bogey on four.  He was able to salvage the round with birdies on five and seventeen along with an eagle on the par 5 fifteenth.  With his final score of 73, Woods now sits tied for 104th which is nine shots back of leader Ryan Palmer who sits at -7 (shot a 64).

"Mentally, I'm a little tired from the grind of trying to piece together a round when I was five-over par," said Woods. "But I fought back to give myself a decent look going into the weekend."  It will take a solid second round if Tiger wants to have a chance at making the cut as the cut line is projected to be set at even par.
