Three Suspects Vandalize Joyland; Multiple Attractions Damaged
On Friday, October 29th, Joyland Amusement Park was broken into and vandalized by 3 unknown suspects.
KAMC News reports that the 3 individuals were seen on surveillance footage at around 2 a.m. on Friday. A Joyland morning crew had discovered that there was a train out of place and a broken mirror near the front entrance.
David Dean, Joyland's president and owner, went further and found several rides damaged in some way. It's said one of the rides had its bars torn off, the train track's wires were ripped out of the ground, and the covers of the water slide were damaged.
While nothing of substantial value was stolen from the park, Dean expects that repairs will cost the park thousands of dollars. He said that "rides are special pieces, and they require special parts. And a lot of times are difficult to come by."
This isn't even the first time in 2021 Joyland was vandalized. Back in May, multiple decorative pots were broken along with the office window. That same month, the wiring was damaged for a railroad crossing in the park.
