The Texas Tech Red Raiders started fast against the Texas Longhorns, they couldnt maintain it however as the Longhorns came back from a double digit first half deficit to take a 33-22 halftime lead. Tech managed to come back late, and force the game into overtime. The Red Raiders couldn't come through in over time however as they fell to the Longhorns 71-67.

Tech was led in scoring by Jaye Crockett with 16 ,Jordan Tolbert and Javarez Willis each chipped in 15 points for Texas Tech. Terran Petteway led the Red Raiders with 10 rebounds, but doomed the Red Raiders chance for a comeback with a traveling call with a little over 8 seconds in overtime.

In overtime, the Red Raiders jumped up by 6 points with a little over a minute remaining. Turnovers and penalties, the scourge for the Red Raiders all season killed their chances.  With the loss, the Red Raiders have locked up the last place in the Big 12 in Billy Gillispies first season.
