The Texas Rangers have had a number of injury issue come up this off-season as they continue to prepare for the start of the 2014 season.  Manager Ron Washington found out on Tuesday that he will now be without the ace of his pitching staff for opening day as Yu Darvish (pictured on the left) has been scratched for the teams first game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

"If it were a shoulder or an elbow, I would be disappointed," Darvish said. "This is something that happened when I woke up. I don't know if I should feel disappointed. It is what it is."  Darvish will likely start the season on the 15-day disabled list, but the Rangers could backdate it as much as nine days.  That means Darvish could miss as few as the first six days of the season.  The Rangers will open their season on Sunday, March 31st from the Ballpark in Arlington as first pitch is set for 1:05pm and can be seen on FOX Sports SW.
