The Shriner College Classic is Basically a Preview For the CWS
Texas Tech is participating in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic and it's going to be epic. It's becoming the premier showcase for elite College Baseball in March and this year will be extra special.
There will be six teams participating with five of those schools ranking in the top 15 in the country according to d1baseball.com, the official poll of the NCAA.
Big 12 schools (1) TCU and Baylor will join (10) Texas Tech in Houston at Minute Maid park for the festivities. SEC schools (15) Texas A&M, (4) LSU and (11) Ole Miss will round out the competition.
All the teams will play three games over the weekend against all three schools of the opposite conference, effectively making it a Big 12 / SEC challenge. Not only does this provide a chance for the Big 12 to assert some conference dominance, it also provides Texas Tech a chance to take the next step as a program into perennial power conversations.
You can watch all of the Shiners College Classic games on the Fox Sports Networks. You can check out the full schedule here.
