The Red Raiders Snag 7 Post Season Honors as Gabe Holt Leads the Way
This wasn't a surprise. In fact, Holt was probably in the Top 10 for players who might win the Big 12 player of the year. Holt also landed on the Freshman All-Big 12 team and the First Team All-Big 12. It's an impressive debut for a kid playing high school baseball last season.
Holt ranked in the top 10 overall this season in nearly every offensive category and was an incredible 27-for-27 in stolen bases. He was never caught stealing. He was top 5 in hits and runs, and top 10 in walks, batting average and on-base percentage.
Holt was joined on the All-Big 12 first team by four of his teammates, the most in the Big 12. Zach Rheams, Josh Jung, Grant Little and Caleb Killian were all honored. Both Jung and Little were unanimous decisions.
Josh Jung, the best player in the Big 12, led the league in five different categories. Not only did he lead five categories, he was second in total bases and triples, fourth in slugging and seventh in home runs.
Grant Little, the second best player in the Big 12, was just behind Jung in most categories.
Rheams and Killian burst onto the scene during Big 12 play. Killian led all Big 12 pitchers with eight wins, posting a 2.21 ERA and striking out 52 batters.
