The Red Raider lost a tough one last week in their Big 12 opener in Lubbock to the Kansas Jayhawks and beat Oklahoma in Norman to warrant a move up in the AP poll this week moving from 15 to 13 in the official poll.

Elsewhere in the Big 12, the Baylor Bears stuck at number two overall and the Kansas Jayhawks are at number three for the second consecutive week. The Texas Longhorns get inside the top 10 after moving to 7-1 landing at number 8 this week. West Virginia is right behind them at 9th overall.

All five ranked Big 12 teams are in the top 13.

The only other ranked team on Texas Tech's schedule is the 5th ranked Houston Cougars who have moved to 7-0 after beating the Red Raiders earlier in the season.

Another ranking metric is the USA Today Coaches Poll which features the Red Raiders at 14th overall up two spots from last week. The Big 12 schools sit at 2nd ranked Baylor, 4th ranked Kansas, Texas at 9th and West Virginia flipped to 8th.

Finally, the KenPom rankings have the Red Raiders as the 11th best team in the NCAA with the top-rated defense in the country and the 59th best offense. The Baylor Bears are once again the best team in the Big 12 in the rankings with the Bears sitting second overall with the 8th best defense and 3rd best offense.

The worst-ranked KenPom team in the Big 12 is Kansas State ranked at 142nd.
