The Big 12 Advances Three Teams to the Sweet 16
The Big 12 had six teams announced as part of the NCAA Tournament and all six of those teams won in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Heading into the second round, it was assumed that three would head to the Sweet 16, with Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech all being the higher seed in their matchups.
Three teams did advance, however Baylor was not among them, The Bears lost to North Carolina in their Round of 32 game with a final score of 93-86. Baylor did make an amazing comeback attempt from more than 20 down to force overtime, but fell short in the game.
Kansas would pass Creighton in a tough matchup, 79-72.
Texas Tech would of course beat Notre Dame 59-53 to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 as well.
Iowa State is the third and most surprising Big 12 team in the Sweet 16. The Cyclones upset Wisconsin 54-49 in an 11-3-seed matchup in the Midwest.
TCU, a 9-seed, took 1-seed Arizona to overtime before losing 85-80 in a thrilling game.
Finally, 3-seed Texas lost to Purdue. You hate to see that.
