The Associated Press’s Updated Top 25 College Football Rankings

The Associated Press released its updated Top 25 College Football rankings with some movement at the top. The Big 12 and SEC led the charge with both conferences placing six teams in the rankings. Oklahoma was able to hold onto the top spot in the first regular-season rankings, while the LSU Tigers used their 40-27 victory against Oregon to jump into the second spot ahead of rival Alabama, which slipped to 3^rd. Boise State moved into the 4^th slot after an impressive 35-21 win against Georgia, while Florida State rounded out the top 5.

The Sooners received 32 of 60 first-place votes and 1,448 points. LSU received 17 first-place votes and 1,415 points.

Besides Oklahoma, representing the Big 12 were Texas A&M at 7, Oklahoma State at 9, Baylor jumped into the top 25 at 20^th after winning a thriller against TCU 50-48, Missouri checked in at 21^st overall, and the Longhorns claimed the 24^th slot after starting the season unranked for the first time since 1998.

Oregon dropped nine spots to No. 13 and defending national champion Auburn, which started the season at No. 23, fell out of the Top 25 after needing a late rally to defeat Utah State 42-38 at home.

The Tigers became just the second defending national champions since the preseason poll started in 1950 to fall out of the rankings after the first week of the season in the first regular-season poll.

The remaining of the top 10 featured No.6 Stanford, followed by Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and Nebraska.

Virginia Tech checked in at No.11 followed by South Carolina, Oregon, Arkansas and Ohio State.

Mississippi State earned No. 16, followed by Michigan State, Florida, West Virginia and Baylor. With Missouri at No.21 ahead of South Florida, Penn State, Texas and TCU who dropped 11 spots to No. 25.
