Texas Tech’s Running Back Room is Ready For Business
I might be drinking the kool-aid a little bit here, but I think Texas Tech's running back room is one of the best in College Football. I know, that sounds ridiculous. But, SaRodorick Thompson is one of the most underrated backs in the country, Chadarius Thompson has put on massive weight this offseason and Xavier White flashed serious skills last year in between injuries.
I talked to those three gentlemen at Texas Tech Media Day and they are ready to get on the field.
SaRodorick Thompson has twenty touchdowns and more than 1,300 yards in the last two seasons. He might be the best running back in the Big 12 that absolutely nobody talks about. We talked to Thompson about his friendship with his ex-teammate who now plays for Houston and some quick hitters about his teammates.
Lubbock's own Xavier White is a former Monterey Plainsman and went to JUCO before getting back to Lubbock and Texas Tech. His secret talent? He's friendly. I don't know that that is much of a secret though.
Chadarius Townsend is a former Alabama Crimson Tide football player and current Red Raider. He flashed a bit last season but will look to carve out a much bigger role this season after gaining twenty pounds since last year without losing a step.
Thompson, Townsend and White will all benefit from each other and the depth of the position with Cam'Ron Valdez and Tahj Brooks included. They'll also, hopefully, benefit from brand new offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie who can hopefully find a way to get multiple backs on the field at the same time.
