Texas Tech Survives Against Oklahoma State to Get to the Top of Big 12
Texas Tech Basketball vs Oklahoma State
It wasn't pretty, or efficient, but the Red Raiders got their 6th win in a row by beating Lindy Waters and 5 last Cowboys in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The final of 84-80, in overtime, might cause some concern for the fan base, but Oklahoma State had two players make 13 three-pointers between the two of them. Lindy Waters was filthy hot in the final minutes of regulation.
It was a culture/coaching win though for Chris Beard and company after staying true and confident even when the shooting didn't seem to follow the straight and narrow.
Norense Odiase has his second game in a row that got close to a double-double with 8 points and 8 boards. Jarrett Culver and Tariq Owens also had success scoring 19 and 16 respectively.
It was Davide Moretti who led the way scoring 20 points. Of those 20, he scored 9 of the final 13 points in regulation for Texas Tech and the final four points in overtime. Moretti was 12 for 12 from the charity stripe and only took 4 shots from the field to get to the 20 point mark.
The stats from the individuals don't really matter though, it's the win that counts. It's that win that has them tied at the top of the Big 12 conference with Kansas State after inching to a .5 game back after dismantling Kansas. Now, if Texas Tech wins out they will at least share in a Big 12 Championship.
They control their own destiny.
