The Red Raiders lost today to the OU Sooners 3-1 and were eliminated  from the Big 12 Baseball Tournament.

Trey Masek represented the Red Raiders on the mound today but didn't last long. Masek went a little over 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits before being replaced by John Neely. Masek ends his season with a 5-4 record

Burch Smith was on the mound for the Sooners. Smith went into the 9th inning for the Sooners giving up 6 hits and allowing only 1 Red Raider run. Smith improves his record to 10-3 on the year.

The Sooners took the lead in the 3rd and held onto it throughout the game. 3rd baseman Garrett Buechele flied out in the 3rd on a sac fly to score 2nd baseman Cale Ellis.

OU scored again in the 4th on a Seitzer solo home run to give the Sooners a 2-0 lead.

The Raiders shot themselves in the foot in the 5th bringing in another OU  run on a balk to score right fielder Elliot Blair. The balk extended the Sooner lead 3-0.

The Raiders were held scoreless until the bottom of the 8th. Senior designated hitter Bo Altobelli

singled up the middle to get on base, but that was quickly followed by 2 Raider fly outs. Altobelli advanced to 2nd on center fielder Barret Barnes' single. With 2 on 2nd baseman Nick Popescu singled to deep right to score Altobelli and cut the Sooner lead to 3-1. The go ahead man 1st baseman Steohen Hagen then came to plate but popped out to end the inning and leave Barnes and Popescu stranded.

Robbie Kilcrease came in to relieve John Neely in the top of the 7th. Neely gave up 1 run on 4 hits during his 3 innings of pitching. Kilcrease made it to the top of the 8th logging 2 outs during his appearance. Jared McCrummen came in to close out the game in the 8th. McCrummen kept the Sooners off the scoreboard and gave the Raiders a chance in the 9th to win the ball game.

In the bottom of the 9th,catcher Kevin Whitehead flew out the left. Out fielder David Paiz then struck out looking. Andre Wheeler came up to bat next and singled to left. Unfortunately, the Raiders couldn't bring him home. Altobelli lined out to 3rd to end the game.

The loss ends the Red Raiders season at 33-25. The Raiders now have to wait and hope that they luck out and get a birth to a NCAA Regional birth.

The NCAA will announce their selection for the 64 team tournament at 12:30 on May 30. Play begins June 3.
