The second half was marked by many fouls being called against West Virginia and trips to the free throw line for Texas Tech. In the second half alone, the Lady Raiders shot 31/35 from the charity stripe. The frustration over the foul calls boiled over in the final minute of the game as the West Virginia bench was called for two consecutive technical fouls.
“We’ve talked a lot the past two days about pushing back,” Texas Tech head coach Kristy Curry said. “You’ve got to have a ‘push’ mentality with everything you do … I’m really proud of sticking with the game plan like the kids did.”
West Virginia had a tough time shooting from long range. Mountaineer 3-point shooting was 7/24 for the game.
