Texas Tech football's Eric Gerald is up for an award through the Collegiate Sports Video Association. The video is one of my personal all-time favorite highlight packages ever put together regardless of school or sport.

The video, the moment, the voiceover from former interim head coach Sonny Cumbie, all come together to create absolute magic.

Gerard shared the video that was nominated for the award heading into the Liberty Bowl against Mississippi State. Just a month earlier, Cumbie had taken over as the interim head coach following the firing of Matt Wells. Cumbie came in and lost to Oklahoma in his first game, then instituted a pump jack mentality during the bye week.

Following the bye week, Texas Tech beat Iowa State at home and earned a spot in the Liberty Bowl.

That pump jack mentality was a theme throughout the rest of the season and shined in the highlight package below.

Absolute chills. Every. Time.

Current Texas Tech football head coach Joey McGuire gave Gerald a shoutout on Twitter after the nomination was announced.

The pump jack video will be up against videos from Northwestern and University of South Florida in the 2022 Savvy awards as part of the Highlight Category.

The award will be decided at the CSVA conference in early May.

Even the video guys at Texas Tech have the pump jack mentality.
