Texas Tech

Red Raider Football had to fight off the heat Tuesday afternoon during the second day of fall practice in Lubbock. Temperatures reached 102 degrees as the Red Raiders started practiced at 4 p.m. yesterday.

Texas Tech also had an off field injury earlier in the week when freshman offensive lineman Anthony Smith suffered an injury on a scooter. Yes, a scooter.

Smith sprained his ankle and Head Coach Tommy Tuberville seemed less than amused.

“I would think the one’s that use (scooter’s) would use common sense,” said Tuberville.  “And if you’re 320 pounds you don’t get on a scooter you get in a car.”

Mountaineers Head Coach Dana Holgorsen addressed the media yesterday after Day 4 of practice. Holgorsen thinks they will be fielding at least 10 freshmen to start the 2012 season as well. Watch the full video of his press conference below.

Texas

The Texas Longhorns don't have a reliable threat in the passing game if the receiver isn't named Shipley. Jaxon Shipley is the only receiver that can make opposing defenses somewhat respect the Texas passing game. Kirk Bohls from the Austin-American Statesman has a great story on the Texas woes here.
