The Texas Tech Red Raiders were on the brink of winning the Lubbock Regional Saturday night, but came up short in the bottom of the 9th inning against Sam Houston State University, losing 9-8.

The Red Raiders were 2-0 on the weekend coming into the Sunday night game after beating Delaware 5-2 and SHSU 6-0.

Davis Martin, whose Friday night start was cut short due to the rain delay, could be in line to start. In the press conference following the loss to SHSU, head coach Tim Tadlock said he hadn't decided who would pitch the Monday afternoon game, but that Davis Martin was available.

When Tadlock was asked if Cody Farhat would play, Tadlock just grinned and said, "That's a good question."

This is a must-win game for the Red Raiders if they want to advance to the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament. It's also the rubber match between a Sam Houston State squad who had won nine games in a row before the Red Raiders beat them on Saturday.
