The Texas Tech Red Raider football team fell to the 2nd ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys Saturday afternoon by a final score of 66-6. It was the Red Raiders third straight loss on the year, while also dropping four in a row from home.

It’s the first time Texas Tech has lost four conference games at home in a season since 1984, and the first time the Red Raiders have dropped four straight home games since 1990.

Coming into the game Texas Tech was riding its second two-game losing streak of the season, but after Saturday’s dismantling it’s the first three-game consecutive losing skid Techs experienced since the ’98 season.

It was the worst all-time loss for the Red Raiders, with the previous largest margin of defeat coming against Nebraska in 2000 when Tech fell 56-3.

Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden continued his impressive season, while adding to his Heisman case, by going a mere 31-37 for 423 yards and five touchdowns. That’s without playing in the 4th quarter.

The Cowboys had two wide-outs go over 100 yards receiving with Justin Blackmon and Josh Cooper both hauling in six passes for 103 and 106 yards respectively.

In total Oklahoma State had 637 yards of total offense to Texas Tech’s 270.

The Red Raiders got behind early as OSU jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead, and Texas Tech never really made it competitive as the Cowboys took a 49-0 lead into halftime.

Texas Tech’s lone points of the game came when Cornelius Douglas returned a fumble in the 3rd quarter 37 yards for the touchdown. Tech failed the extra point attempt making the score 49-6 at that point in time.

Jacob Karam took over the quarterback duties for Tech in place of Seth Doege late in the 4th quarter. Doege ended the game 24-43 for 169 yards and one interception.

Just to pour a little sound in the wound, since scoring a touchdown to go up 31-7 on Oklahoma three weeks ago, Texas Tech has been outscored 190-43.

With the loss the Red Raiders fell to 5-5 on the season and 2-5 in Big 12 play, while Oklahoma State improved to 10-0 and 7-0 in the conference.

Next weekend Texas Tech will hit the road to face the Missouri Tigers who defeated the Texas Longhorns at home Saturday 17-5.
