Texas Tech Freshman Forward Terran Petteway has been suspended by Head Basketball Coach Billy Gillispie for his two technical fouls and ejection Wednesday night's 81-46 loss to No. 10 Kansas. Petteway’s suspension will take place for this Saturday's game at Texas A&M.

Petteway is averaging 4.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists a game for Texas Tech (7-8, 0-3 Big 12) which faces fellow bottom dweller Texas A&M (9-6, 0-3 Big 12) Saturday.

Billy Gillispie said of the suspension, “No one could have a greater appreciation for playing hard more than I do.  Our success will be determined by playing hard at the highest level.  However, we do not and will never condone an emotional outburst of the physical nature like what happened last night.  We will learn how to compete extremely hard in a sportsmanlike manner and represent the Red Raiders in a way of class.  That being said, Terran knew he acted wrongly and was immediately apologetic.  He understands that he must suffer the consequences for his actions.  We will all use this as learning experience and move forward in a positive way.”

The Big 12 Conference game marks the first time Gillispie has returned to College Station as a opposing coach since leading Texas A&M to the Sweet 16 in 2006-2007.
