Late Friday evening, the Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball team earned their first Big 12 Championship since 1998 without even playing a game this weekend.

The 5th ranked Red Raiders earned a share of the Big 12 Regular Season Championship as 2nd place Oklahoma State lost 9-1 to Oklahoma, while 3rd place TCU was eliminated from winning the conference title losing to Baylor 4-3.

The Red Raiders are 38-13 on the season and hold a 17-4 record in conference play as they are off this weekend for Spring exams. Tech was picked to go 5th in the conference by a poll of the Big 12 coaches.

The Big 12 Champion Red Raiders will be the top seed at the Big 12 Championships in Oklahoma City May 25-29 because of a tiebreaker over Oklahoma State by sweeping the Cowboys earlier in the season.

Tech returns to the diamond next week as they host the West Virginia Mountaineers for the season series finale at Rip Griffin Park. First pitch is set for Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. with television coverage on Fox Sports Southwest.
