Texas Tech Baseball Sweeps Second Straight Big 12 Series
The Oklahoma Sooners never really stood a chance against the red hot Texas Tech baseball team this weekend. Texas Tech won all three games by multiple runs 10-6, 7-3 and 8-4. It's the second straight Big 12 conference sweep and the 8th game in a row won in conference. The Red Raiders have won 9 of the last 10.
Cam Warren was the star on Friday night hitting home runs in the 6th and 7th innings. The latter home run being a 3 run shot that gave Texas Tech the lead for good. The real star of the game though was Taylor Floyd though who came in and looked absolutely unhittable. He threw three innings and six strikeouts and didn't allow anyone to reach base.
On Saturday afternoon the game was highlighted by Josh Jung and Brian Klein both having multi RBI games. Caleb Killian had another solid start in Big 12 play throwing 5 complete innings but left the game with Texas Tech trailing 2-0. The Red Raiders quickly rectified that scoring at least a run in the final four innings. Connor Queen and Dane Haveman finished the game holding the Sooners to one earned run on nine base runners.
In the finale, Texas Tech raked seven doubles and scored eight runs while Bryce Bonnin got Texas Tech off to a hot start on the mound backed up by incredible defense by All-American Josh Jung who also had three of the teams seven doubles. Clayton Beeter would notch the save.
The sweep from Texas Tech is great for the Red Raiders RPI, which is up to 10th in the country. Texas Tech finishes the season with a midweek series against Florida International and TCU.
