Texas Tech Baseball Set to Play in Stacked 2021 Tournament at New Globe Life Field
I know it's only 2019 and the college baseball season hasn't even started yet but according to Kendall Rogers of d1baseball.com Texas Tech is going to participate in a regular season tournament hosted at the brand new Globe Life Stadium that has an absolutely stacked field.
Check it out:
Now, no details have been released, but just based off of the caliber of competition this is going to be off the charts exciting. All of these teams have been to the College World Series recently and all of them will be in contention to return in the next two years.
By just seeing the field, this could be an SEC vs Big 12 Showcase similar to the Challenge that the Basketball teams already participate in. It's not unprecedented that that Big 12 teams play each other in non-conference play, but I'd lean toward a conference battle round robin set up, which is incredibly appealing to me.
The Big 12 beat the SEC 3 out of 4 Bowl games this year. The Basketball Big 12 SEC Challenge has historically gone the Big 12's way and I'd put the top three teams in the Big 12 from the Baseball teams up against any conference in the country and feel confident.
I'm excited to get more information on this event, though we have plenty of time to do so. It could even be the first collegiate event hosted at the stadium which will host it's first MLB season for the Rangers in 2020.
