We should be watching Texas Tech finishing up their season and heading to the Big 12 Tournament. Maybe even a Big 12 Championship. Instead, the coronavirus took away college baseball and Omaha from the Red Raiders.

Now, the baseball prognosticators are already looking past what could have been and are looking to what might be in 2021, and they are high on the Red Raider squad that was poised to be great in 2020. So high that they think the Red Raiders are going to start next season as number two according to Baseball America's latest ranking.

The rest of the Big 12 is heavily cited as well with Oklahoma at 10, Texas at 12, and TCU at 22. Oklahoma State will likely be in the mix as well.

As far as Texas Tech goes, they'll have one of the highest-ranking recruiting classes this offseason to go with an already loaded roster. John McMillon and Connor McMillon will have the opportunity to return as 5th-year seniors after the MLB and NCAA made changes to the draft and roster eligibility requirements for next season.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders will also boast a strong second-year class led by Jace Jung and Nate Rombach who were off to hot starts as Freshmen. Veterans Cole Stilwell and Braxton Fulford make the lineup even more dangerous. Add to that Bryce Bonnin, Micah Dallas, Hunter Dobbins, and the rest of the pitching staff the Red Raiders could be pretty stout next season.

Hopefully, the Red Raiders will be back in Omaha to enjoy the benefits of the incredible roster.

Brian Klein, 2nd Baseman, Texas Tech
