To open the Big 12 Tournament Texas Tech squared off with Kansas State. The Red Raiders used a solid start from Micah Dallas and Josh Jung reaching base 5 times to take care of the Wildcats 7-4. In relief John McMillon pitched 3 complete innings giving up just one unearned run.

Cam Warren, Gabe Holt and Kurt Wilson joined Jung with multi-hit games.

There was some drama in the 9th inning with Clayton Beeter coming in and putting two on and moving them up a base with a balk while not recording a single out. Dane Haveman would then come in and get a foul out before walking the bases loaded. After just two batters and with the bases juiced Taylor Floyd would come in to try and shut down the threat of the wildcats in the top of the 9th.

Floyd would come in and induce a force out at home and a strike out to end the game.

The number one seed Texas Tech Red Raiders will now face West Virginia tomorrow as the third game of the day tentatively scheduled for 4:00 pm. West Virginia moved into the winners bracket by beating Kansas 12-8.
