Texas Tech head baseball coach Dan Spencer announced the Red Raiders early signing class Friday morning with seven-student athletes having signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.

All seven signees will join the Red Raiders for the 2012-2013 season.

The signing class includes seven high school standouts. Five of the signees are from Texas while one is from Oklahoma and one is from Colorado. Overall the Red Raiders signed five pitchers (4 RHP, 1 LHP), one infielder and an outfielder.

Brandon Baeckel – INF – 6-0, 185 – R/R – Loveland, Colo./Mountain View

Luke Downs – RHP – 6-1, 205 – R/R – Amarillo, Texas/Amarillo

Reid Meyer – LHP – 6-4, 195 – R/L – Fort Worth, Texas/Fort Worth County Day

Conner Smith – OF – 6-4, 200, L/L – Mansfield, Texas/Legacy

Johnathon Tripp – RHP/UTL – 6-5, 185 – R/R – Spring, Texas/Klein

Matt Withrow – RHP – 6-3, 210 – R/R – Odessa, Texas/Midland Christian

Joe Zurawik – RHP – 5-11, 170 – R/R – Bixby, Okla./Bishop Kelley
