Temple in Talks to Join Big East and Boise State to Stay in Mountain West in Some Sports until 2013
The Owls Temple were forced out of the Big East Conference in 2004 when Temple was a football only member of the conference from 1991-2004. Fast-forward to 2012 and the Big East is in talks with the Owls to bring them back out of desperation to save the league from obscurity. A source close to the situation gave this information to the Associated Press on a condition of anonymity on Wednesday.
Another school which is joining the Big East in 2012, Boise State is facing too many bumps in the road of moving its non-football sports to the Western Athletic Conference for the 2012-2013 seasons will stay in the Mountain West for the next athletic year.
Boise State and San Diego State will be joining the Big East in football only starting in 2013 with Boise joining the WAC and SDSU joining the Big West Conference in non-football sports. BYU left in 2011 along with TCU bolting to the Big 12 after this season.
