Tech Basketball Stings Baylor; Baseball and Softball Sweep

The Texas Tech Lady Raider Basketball team upset #1 Baylor 56-45 Saturday in Lubbock snapping a 21 game winning streak for the Lady Bears. The 45 points was a season low for the Lady Bears who average nearly 80 points a game. The Lady Raiders tomorrow face another ranked opponent, #5 Texas A&M, Tuesday night in College Station.

Brad Reese scored 17 points and John Roberson added 16 as Texas Tech defeated Baylor Saturday night in Waco 78-69. Tech led 32-27 at halftime and led most of the way without Senior Forward Mike Singletary. Texas Tech is 12-15, 4-8 in conference play while Baylor fell to 17-9 overall and 5-7 in conference play. Texas Tech will host Colorado on Wednesday.

Texas Tech baseball started off the season sweeping the Red Raider Classic at Dan Law Field with wins of 8-0 over Western Michigan, 6-2 over Utah Valley State, and two wins of 6-1 and 8-6 over Northwestern. Texas Tech will face BYU and Northern Illinois this weekend in the Brooks Wallace Memorial Classic Thursday.

No. 21 Texas Tech Softball won the Texas Tech invitational this weekend with 3 wins a piece over Bryant and Utah Valley State this weekend in Lubbock. Texas Tech is now 11-0 on the season and will host the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic hosting Northern Illinois, St. John’s and Wichita State starting on Friday.
