Steven Gingery Lost for the Season Due to Torn Ligament in Elbow
Texas Tech Red Raider Baseball swept the Maine Black Bears this past weekend in a four-game series to start the season. But on Monday evening, rather then the undefeated start being the talk of Lubbock, the focus was on the Red Raider pitching staff.
The ace of the staff, junior Steven Gingery, left his start on Saturday after throwing just over two innings due to left elbow discomfort.
An MRI was scheduled for Monday, and Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.com broke the news concerning Gingery's health.
The torn UCL for Gingery will mean he's out for the whole 2018 season. Gingery is a junior, so he could come back to Texas Tech in 2019 to try to improve his status for the Major League Baseball Draft.
Red Raider Baseball is in action Tuesday against New Mexico State before starting a series at UTSA on Friday.
