After being named Big 12 Player of the Week, Texas Tech's Michael Davis added another honor to his trophy case, being named National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Davis is just the eighth Red Raider to get a National Weekly Award. With seven RBIs in a game and 11 on the week which included a win over top 10 FSU and a sweep of top 20 OSU.

Davis led all Big 12 players with 11 RBI last week, seven of which that came in Sunday’s victory to close out a series sweep at No. 16 Oklahoma State. It marked the most RBIs for a Red Raider since Chris Richburg also drove in seven runs on May 1, 2007, at Dallas Baptist.

The rise of Michael Davis has elevated Texas Tech to an elite level with a dangerous hitter in every section of the lineup. It's also allowed the Red Raiders, along with the freshmen pitching, to sweep three Big 12 opponents and an 11-1 start in Big 12 play.
