Matt Dawson, a first responder who was injured in a crash on January 11th that killed 2 others, is said to be moving out of the Intensive Care unit at UMC.

Dawson was injured while responding to a crash along I-27 in North Lubbock. 2 other first responders, Lubbock Fire Rescue Lieutenant Eric Hill and Lubbock Police Officer Nicholas Reyna were killed in that crash.

KAMC News reports that Dawson has not woken up, but will respond on command, usually by hand squeezing or by giving a thumbs up.

Dawson is being moved to a long-term care facility, which will help him get ready for brain rehabilitation.
