Izod Indy Car driver Marco Andretti joined the Williams & Hyatt Show Thursday afternoon to discuss his crash at the Indy 500, Detroit, Texas Motor Speedway, family and more.

Marco voiced his frustration on the timing of the crash during the race in Indy.

“At the time it was very disappointing,” Marco said. “Obviously we weren’t out of it for the win at that point. We were very strong through-out the race so for it to end up like that was just a huge disappointment.”

The Andretti family has historically struggled at the Indy 500 so you can appreciate and understand his frustration.

Marco's grandfather, Mario, won it in 1969 — and never won again in 24 more tries.

Michael, Marco’s father, led 431 laps in 16 career starts but never won.

Marco led 59 laps Sunday at the 500, more than any other driver. Unfortunately he got shuffled back in the field by an ill-timed caution flag after a pit stop. Then he crashed on lap 188, ending his day.
