On Wednesday, December 15th, a Lubbock man was found guilty of continuous sexual assault of a child.

43-year-old Johnny Molina was accused of sexually abusing 2 girls that were under the age of 14 from October of 2014 all the way through February of 2018. His charges included 9 allegations of child sexual abuse ranging from indecency to a child to aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The outcries from the 2 girls was said to have been consistent with abuse, according to a sexual nurse examiner and a trauma therapist. They also said there were no signs the girls were being forced to say what they did.

Molina also had previous felony convictions relating to controlled substances. Because of these past convictions, Molina was facing a minimum of 25 years in prison, and a maximum sentence of life.

KAMC News reports that prosecutors told the jury that there is "no more serious crime than continuous sexual abuse of a child" and that Molina "took advantage of trust in the most heinous way possible." Prosecutors argued that Molina should be sentenced to life in prison, while the defense argued that a 25-year sentence would be "just and fair."

The jury only deliberated for around 15 minutes before decided on Molina's life sentence.
