The suspect involved in a car crash with a Lubbock Police Department truck on Wednesday, June 2nd, has admitted to doing "whip-its" around 15 to 20 minutes before the crash.

"Whip-its" are whenever someone inhales nitrous oxide, which is commonly found in whipped cream (hence the name), for the "euphoric, relaxing and dissociative effects," according to theblackberrycenter.com. Whip-its are legal and easy to obtain, making them popular among youth.

The day of the crash, Lubbock police officers responded to the crash just a bit before noon. It occurred near 91st Street and Indiana Avenue. KAMC News reports that the suspect collided with an LPD truck.

Reports say that there were multiple injuries in the crash, and the suspect, who has yet to be publicly identified, was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

When talking to police, the suspect said that he blacked out while driving and didn't even remember getting into the crash. He also revealed that he had inhaled three canisters of nitrous oxide before the crash happened.

After searching the suspect's car, police found multiple nitro whip cartridges, both used and unused, as well as a device to dispense the cartridges.

The conditions of the officers who were involved in the crash is currently unknown. All that's known is that they were transported to UMC with non-serious injuries.
