Man Accepts Plea Deal for Failure to Register as Sex Offender
A man has accepted a federal plea deal for failure to register as a sex offender.
KAMC News reports 34-year-old Joey Lee Hernandez was convicted in 2014 for sexual abuse of a child.
In October 2017, Hernandez registered with Lubbock Police as living at an address in Central Lubbock. In April 2018, U.S. Marshals confronted Hernandez about not renewing his registration. He told them that he didn’t know he was supposed to renew quarterly.
Later, while working in Hobbs, New Mexico, Hernandez failed to register that job with officials.
Hernandez will be sentenced at a later date to a maximum of 10 years in prison.
