Lubbock is getting another awesome addition to the community, it's the first and only accredited barber school.

It's called the Wadegordon Academy Barber School and they are just waiting for their final letter to start classes.

It should start in about six to eight weeks and you can call now to set up and tour and learn more. They are starting a waiting list now and it's already filling up. The first round will hold about 50 students.

They are looking for people with a high school diploma or GED to come and take classes. They even have financial aid available and can help get that started. So you can "call today and start tomorrow."

Wade tells us that he grew up poor in Amarillo and becoming a barber changed his life. He hopes these new courses and classes can do the same for other people in the community as well.

He said people in this industry can make anywhere from $50,000 to $120,000 if they are motivated enough.

He hopes this will be a new place people can feel safe in and call home. To become a barber in Texas takes about 1,000 credit hours, making it about seven to eight months of classes if you work hard at it.

Their classes will be located at 7615 University Avenue right here in Lubbock. If you want to learn more information about them you call them at 806-731-4465. You can find out more about the courses, cost, and more on their website.

They will also be bringing in barber battles once it all gets up and running. It's something cool they do in Amarillo that they are wanting to bring here to Lubbock as well.
