Then and Now: 101 Striking Photos Show How Much Lubbock Has Changed in the Past 15 Years

I was born in Lubbock in 1989 and have lived in the city since 1993. To some, that might seem like just a few years, to others, it's several lifetimes enough of Lubbock for one man to bear. Myself, I love Lubbock.

One of my favorite parts of the city is the rapid growth that the city of Lubbock has enjoyed in the last decade or so. The Marsha Sharp Freeway transformed traffic in the city, even if construction was tedious while it was being built. Milwaukee Ave. was a ghost town when I was in high school, and now it's hustling and bustling all the way from 4th to 82nd.

Speaking of 82nd Street, that used to be the "end" of Lubbock. Now, 98th Street is incredibly developed and 114th Street is blooming before our very eyes on Indiana, Quaker, and Slide.

There are also changes to buildings that have been here forever that just got major upgrades (hello, Jones AT&T Stadium!) and places that don't exist at all anymore (goodbye, Memorial Coliseum!).

This list certainly isn't exhaustive of all the changes in Lubbock, but it's hard to believe some of these just go back a little more than a decade.

Simply amazing.
