Lubbock Police Arrest Armed Suspect Outside Local Hotel
In a strange story from Friday, May 13, Lubbock Police were called out to the Koko Inn located at 5201 South Q. Drive to confront a man with a handgun.
Around 6:15 a.m., a night watchman at the Koko Inn reported a man armed with a handgun was sleeping outside the hotel in his vehicle.
Initially, the hotel night watchman approached the 2016 Hyundai, but when the occupant woke up and pointed a laser attached to a handgun at the night watchman’s chest, the police were called out.
LPD officers surrounded the vehicle and a stand-off ensued.
After a brief struggle, police were able to successfully detain their suspect.
Thirty-year-old Ian Michael Bilbrey was charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Marijuana.
Nobody was harmed in the incident.
