Lubbock Man Sentenced for Recording Teenager in the Bathroom
A Lubbock man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he admitted to secretly recording a teenage girl in the bathroom.
31-year-old Cameron Varner was arrested on April 20th after an FBI complaint accused him of producing child pornography. KAMC News reports that Lubbock Police were sent 11 filed through a CyberTip. The files contained multiple images of a nude teenager girl in a bathroom. Investigators eventually located the girl in the photos, and she said that she wasn't aware that she was being photographed. She was around 15-years-old at the time the pictures were taken.
Investigators believed that Varner had set up a recording device on the bathroom sink, pointing it in the direction of the bathtub so he could record the girl. The FBI complaint also said that Varner was in possession of over 600 images and videos of child pornography on his Dropbox account.
Varner eventually pleaded guilty in July of 2022 to transportation of child pornography. He was originally charged with 11 counts of production of child pornography.
Varner admitted to producing child pornography on at least 2 separate occasions. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday, November 3rd and 30 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
