Sunday, local firefighters responded to two separate fires; one in east Lubbock and another in south Lubbock.

The first fire occurred at around 1:40 p.m. in the 300 block of 42nd Street. According to news reports, a family of five had to evacuate when a fire set off a fire alarm in the house. Lubbock Fire Rescue was able to extinguish the fire and damage was contained to a rear section of the home.

The second fire occurred at 3:25 p.m. in the 2300 block of 96th Street. KAMC news reports that a male and female juvenile were the only ones home at the time and ran to nearby fire station #14 to ask for help. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in the master bedroom.

The cause of both fires has not yet been determined and no injuries were reported in either incident.
