The Lubbock Police Department has released more information on a deadly shooting Sunday night (June 2nd).

Police confirmed that a shooting did occur in the 400 block of MLK Boulevard just minutes before midnight on Sunday.

An unidentified suspect is alleged to have fired multiple shots at a vehicle with four people inside. That vehicle then drove to a parking lot in 2700 block of East 2nd Street and police were called to the scene.

When first responders arrived, they found 37-year-old Cassie Oden with life-threatening injuries. Shortly afterwards, she was pronounced dead. Another person inside the vehicle was also injured by gunfire. Twenty-four-year-old Preston Beadman was reportedly taken by a private vehicle to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Police have not arrested anyone or named any suspects in the case so far. The Metro Special Crimes Unit is currently investigating.
