The Texas Tech Lady Raider golf team wrapped up play in the UTSA Alamo Invitational Tuesday afternoon with an 8th place finish, 25 strokes behind tournament host and winner UTSA.

Texas Tech put itself in a position to make a final-day run for the tournament win, as the 20th-ranked Lady Raiders combined to shoot 5-under at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.

The 283-card had helped Tech move from seventh to fifth overall thanks to the second-lowest round of the day that ranked only behind Nebraska’s tournament-record 8-under card that moved the Huskers atop the leaderboard at 2-under overall.

The Lady Raiders struggled on the final day however, carding a 311 overall to give them the 8th place finish.

Tournament host UTSA put together the best final round with a 290 to claim the title, with a total score of 866, and finish three-strokes better than second place and 23rd ranked Baylor Bears.

The 17th ranked Aggies finished third, followed by Kentucky and Nebraska to round out the top-five.

TCU and Texas State checked in at 6th and 7th ahead of the Lady Raiders, with fellow in-state institution SMU finishing in the 14th and final spot.

Individually the Lady Raiders were led by Kim Kaufman who carded a 219. She was followed by Elin Arvidsson’s 224, with Beverly Mendoza and Deborah DeVilla both shooting a 227.
