Joyland Management Explains Why The Park Remains Closed

While Governor Greg Abbott continues to issue executive orders reopening different sectors of Texas businesses closed due to Coronavirus, one business sector that remains closed is amusement parks.

Lubbock's Joyland Amusement Park remains closed, despite a number of their local supports urging them to open.

Joyland's management posted a brief statement on social media, explain why they are closed.

"Many people have asked us, "Why don't you just open up anyway?".

Well, our response is, "We would like to, but there are numerous reasons we have chosen not to "go against the system":

"Joyland takes great pride in being one of the largest single location job providers in Lubbock for people entering the job market for the first time. We feel this does not project the kind of values we want our employees to learn as part of our Team.

"Even though we know we can provide a safe environment for our guests and Team Members, we want the blessing of "the system" that they support us in this knowledge.

I think Joyland's management does a good job in summing up the position they are currently taking. Hopefully, Governor Abbott's next executive order will allow amusement parks, and other entertainment venues, the ability to re-open.
