Josh Jung Gets Promoted and Faces Fellow Red Raider in 1st AB
Josh Jung made his professional debut last week and dominated rookie-ball. It was a ridiculous showing and it for the sake of opposing pitching the Rangers moved him up, skipping a level in Spokane, straight to their single-A affiliate in Hickory.
Jung got to Hickory and debuted with a ground out to short. He got back on his horse and in his second at-bat ripped this double. As the video pans out you can see Jung really dig in and... wait is that Davis Martin??
Yes, it is. Martin and Jung squared off as opponents for the first time. Martin ended his night after 7 innings giving up just two runs and five hits with six strikeouts. Two of those hits would be from his ex-teammate Jung who got the double above and a single in his next at-bat. After Martin left the game The Intimidators would tie the game at 3-3 and head to extras.
In his debut, Josh Jung would come up in the bottom of the 10th with two outs and a man on second. It's the dream scenario, except they intentionally walked Jung to get to the next guy. The game would end two batters later with Josh Jung on 3rd base.
Davis Martin takes the no-decision, Josh Jung would finish 2-4 with a walk.
