Josh Hamilton Carries the Texas Rangers to Victory Over the Detroit Tigers With His Major League Leading 32nd Homer
Josh Hamilton led the way for the Texas Rangers hitting his league leading 32nd homerun in the Rangers 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. Hamilton also grabbed his league leading 99th RBI.
Yu Darvish pitched well in his outing, going 6 2/3 innings, giving up just six hits and three runs. Darvish also had eight strike outs on the night.Commenting on his performance after the game, Darvish was quoted as saying, "I was able to attack the zone, be aggressive, especially from the middle of the game on, I was able to go after them with my fastball. I think the biggest difference was that after I walked those guys, I didn't think about it. I didn't let it drag on into my next hitters. I just concentrated on competing against the next hitter and getting those guys out."
Josh Hamilton also discussed his performance in the game stating, "When you're patient, you're in a better position to see the ball and you're going to have a better swing. I'm just making my mind up that I'm going to try to focus better on taking more pitches and getting in better hitter's counts. My third at-bat, I struck out. [Porcello] didn't throw me a strike. I asked the umpire."
Since beginning the month of August, the Texas Rangers are 8-3 and hitting with a .306 team batting average. The Los Angeles Angels are 3-8 so far in July. The 8-3 month of August pushes the Rangers to a 6.5 game lead over the Oakland Athletics and an 8 game lead over the Angels.
