The guys with the Sports Shack (Scott Fitzgerald & Alan Berger) earlier today hosted the first edition of Sports Shack Overtime on 1340 The Fan with their guest, Texas Country music artist, Josh Abbott.

Abbott is an Idalou native and his band is scheduled to play tonight at Wild West in the Depot District.

You can see Abbott giving a 'Guns Up' in the photo to the left, with Sports Shack producer Tarren Hubbard doing his best to photobomb him.

During the Sports Shack Overtime, Scott, Alan & Josh talked about many different topics: The Josh Abbott Band and the new music they're producing (their new song 'Touch' comes out on Tuesday), Texas Tech and college football, Abbott's time at Tech, the Texas Rangers and Josh Hamilton.

Abbott is a big Texas Tech Football fan, and like many Tech fans, thinks 2012 will be a better season than 2011. "I think that the stars are aligned for us (Tech) to have a 9-3, 8-4 type of season again.  We're going to probably take a couple of losses because Tech's never gone undefeated." Abbott continued, "I do think that 9-3 is very possible with our schedule, the amount of guys we have coming back that saw starting time last year and the amount of JUCO (junior college) guys we have (too)."

He's also big on following the recruiting scene, "I read about four or five different recruiting sites. I try to take that information that I read from all of these different sources and collect some sort of comprehensive opinion on all of it, as opposed to just reading one site and repeating what they say."
