Jakeem Grant’s 2018 Season Is Over After Suffering Lower Leg Injury
Jakeem Grant's 2018 season is over.
Grant underwent lower leg surgery on Monday (Nov. 19th), which the Miami Herald's Miami Dolphins reporter Adam Beasley described as "season-ending."
According to the Miami Herald, Grant suffered an injury to his leg during the Dolphins-Packers game in early November. Though the injury required surgery to repair and will sideline the wide receiver until at least the 2019 training camp, the outlet reported that it could have been much worse.
Had Grant tore his Achilles tendon (as originally feared), he likely would have been out for 10-12 months, including rehabilitation.
Grant, for his part, took the bad news in stride. On Twitter, he thanked fans for their support and is already looking forward to next season.
The former Texas Tech superstar and Athens, Texas native delivered several electrifying moments on the field for the Dolphins in 2018. He took a punt return 70 yards for a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals; returned a kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans; and high-fived a teammate running for a touchdown in one of the greatest football clips of all time.
Just in case you forgot just how fast Jakeem Grant is, he made national headlines during Texas Tech's 2016 Pro Day in Lubbock, clocking in an unreal 40-yard dash time of 4.3 seconds. Some at the event say the time was even lower, at 4.10. It was one of the fastest 40-yard dash times in history.
