Texas Tech basketball has been in a slump as of late, but Jahmi'us Ramsey has been the best freshman in the Big 12 for the 2020 season. The Big 12 coaches agree.

Ramsey was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was also listed on the All-Freshman team along with teammate Terrance Shannon Jr. Davide Moretti was listed on the Honorable Mention team.

Ramsey is the first Red Raider to be named Big 12 Freshman of the Year along with Big 12 honors. He averaged 15 points per game, which is good enough for top five in the Big 12. Ramsey was also named to the All-Big 12 second team and the All-Big 12 Newcomer team.

Dok Azubuike was named Big 12 Player of the Year, Scott Drew was named Coach of the Year and Marcus Garrett was named Defensive Player of the Year. Wrapping up the awards was Davonte Bandoo (6th Man of the Year), Davion Mitchell (Newcomer of the Year) and Freddie Gillespie, who walked away with Most Improved Player.

Texas Tech will open the Big 12 tournament on Thursday against Texas at 11:30 a.m. after finishing the year in a four-way tie for third place in the conference.
