Worst Driver Survey Reveals Why Lubbock Is Deadly

Put your seatbelts on gang, I'm about to tell you why being on the road in Lubbock is a near deathtrap. 

New Mexico

A new Forbes article lists New Mexico as the state with the worst drivers in the U.S. The list of reasons why New Mexico had a score of "100 out of 100" is crazy. It all comes down to fatal accidents due to distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, and just not paying attention to street signs. The survey makes it seem like everyone in New Mexico gets in their car everyday with no regard for anyone's safety including their own.

Texas

Yee-haw Texas, for once you're not number on the list of worst drivers by state. Instead, Texas comes in at #3. While Texas drivers tend to pay a little more attention than New Mexico drivers, Texas has more drunk drivers in fatal accidents. Let's just say it out loud, Texans need to save their "sippin' time" for when they're home on the porch. Many think they are "good enough to drive" but the statistics prove think they aren't.

Lubbock

So where do the worst and third worst drivers in the U.S. meet? You already know the answer. Lubbock is rife with New Mexico license plates. Heck, we love when those folks pop on over for some shopping and a visit, but getting behind someone with New Mexico plates sure always seems to be an adventure.

What Can Be Done?

As I told my last driving student, "Imagine the most unlikely thing a driver could do...because in Lubbock, they'll do that".  Seriously, you have to be double-alert to make up for the lack of alertness and training by the other drivers.  Every day is Mad Max/Furiosa madness on the streets of Lubbock, Texas.
