Walmart is now offering drone deliveries in dozens of stores in the Dallas area. Now, instead of driving across town to the store, residents in Plano, Frisco, Rowlett, and DFW can order something from Walmart to be delivered by drone within roughly 30 minutes. This could come in pretty handy when you run out of chips and dip during a football game...

So, how long before Walmart offers drone deliveries in Lubbock, Texas?

According to Fox 4 News, the retailer plans to make drone deliveries available to about 1.8 million households by the end of the year, which is approximately 75% of the population of the DFA area. They'll be utilizing drone partners like DroneUp, Wing, and Zipline. There is currently no word on when the deliveries will make their way to Lubbock. It looks like they are focusing efforts on bigger metroplexes first.

Three-quarters of the stock in Walmart meets the size and weight requirement to be delivered by drone, so you'll be able to order pretty much anything within reason.

What would you use it for? Last-minute holiday shopping? The carton of eggs you forgot to buy for a cake you're already making? A phone charger when you get stuck somewhere without one? The possibilities are endless.

The drone flight paths are also regulated by the FAA. I can't help but wonder if people will try to shoot them down and steal your stuff, haha. Hopefully that isn't the case.

What a time to be alive, guys. Drone deliveries from Walmart. Wowza.
